What is Al-Gore-2004.org?
Al-Gore-2004.org is a 100% grassroots, all volunteer group of patriotic Americans who are dedicated to re-electing Al Gore President of the United States in 2004.
The 2004 Presidential campaign is a long way off. Why are you doing all this now?
If we at Al-Gore-2004.org knew nothing about President Gore except his campaign Y2K platform, we would vote for him in 2004. But his platform is just one of the reasons we are enthusiastic Gore supporters. Campaign Y2K proved that Al Gore is an extreme rarity in national politics: a man of principle, who ran his campaign on the issues, as well as accepting campaign spending limits and refusing PAC money (while his opponent did the exact opposite). Our respect for Al Gore grew as we watched his opponent massively outspend him and stoop to dirtier and dirtier tricks. As citizens, we were appalled by the biased media coverage of that election, which worked hand in hand with the Republican party in an attempt to defeat President Gore. Despite all the obstacles in his path, Al Gore won the popular vote in the 2000 election by over 500,000 votes. We also believe that, had all the votes been counted, Al Gore would have been acknowledged as the winner of the Florida election as well and been proclaimed President as the winner of the electoral college.
The fact that he conceded an election he clearly won in an attempt to heal America has increased our admiration of Al Gore exponentially. Al-Gore-2004.org does not feel that it is hyperbole to call him the greatest living American.
We know that President Gore has not stated whether he plans to run for President in 2004. And we do not expect any sort of formal announcement until much closer to the actual election. However, we have decided that there is no one who deserves our support other than Al Gore. And given the extremely ugly nature of the last campaign and its aftermath, we feel it is vitally important to work for his re-election now.
Who are the members of Al-Gore-2004.org?
We are average citizens from across the United States, men and women of all races, ethnicities, religions, ages, sexual orientations, income levels and occupations. Although most of us are registered Democrats, Al-Gore-2004.org is in no way endorsed or funded by the Democratic Party or anyone from the Gore/Lieberman 2000 campaign.
How do I join Al-Gore-2004.org?
Because every Gore supporter has different needs and different amounts of time to devote to the cause, there are now five ways to join Al-Gore-2004.org. Read the descriptions below to see which membership method is right for you:
1.) Subscribe to Gore News Network (GNN) GoreCast. If your day is already taken up with voter registration drives and walking the precincts for the 2001 and 2002 races, but you don’t want to miss one iota of information about President Gore, then the GNN GoreCast is for you. 2.) Join the Al-Gore-2004-Community egroup. Sure! You can reduce the number of email messages you receive in two different ways. You can:
* Choose to receive no email and read the messages on the egroup website or
* Receive the email in a daily digest form.
3.) Join the Al Gore 2004 04-um at AlGore-04.com If you want to discuss the latest Gore news and other current events in a more structured environment than an egroup can provide, if you have a specific interest that you want to focus on in your fight to restore Democracy, then the 04-um is for you. 4.) Join the Al-Gore-2004.org web ring. If you have a web site of your own, or if you represent a Democratic club or organization, consider joining our Al-Gore-2004.org web ring. What do I get if I join Al-Gore-2004.org as an off-line member?
Off-line members receive a membership packet containing:1.) A "talking points" fact sheet covering President Gore's record of achievement.
2.) A list of "Ten ways you can fight for Al Gore".
3.) An 8 x 10 color "Gore 2004" poster to copy and distribute.
